A Green Goddess Shares Spring Cleaning Recipes

By: David Suzuki Foundation
The April issue of the David Suzuki Foundation monthly newsletter focuses on sustainable spring cleaning, and features the Foundation’s own "green goddess" Lindsay Coulter who shares safe, inexpensive, kitchen-tested household cleaning recipes made from everyday ingredients.
"I mix up my own cleaning and cosmetic products at home for friends, family and colleagues," said Coulter, the Foundation’s Conservation Policy Analyst. "My products are cheaper, safer, and better than anything else I’ve tried or purchased. I know and trust everything that goes into them, so I never have to worry about contaminating my family, my pets or the environment with toxic chemicals. The recipes are easy to follow, take minutes and can be done at home."
Coulter’s Clean Up – which includes recipe cards and how-to videos – is featured in this month’s issue of David Suzuki’s Nature Challenge newsletter. The first set of household cleaning recipes includes laundry detergents (liquid and powdered versions), fabric softener and furniture polish. Future recipes cover just about anything the average household needs - from all-purpose cleaners to wood floor polish made from everyday items such as white vinegar, baking soda, plain soap and Borax.
The newsletter also has stories on hazardous waste disposal, recycling unwanted household goods, and the recent series of conservation ads and web tips featuring David Suzuki.
