So that's why my beautiful wife is so blissfully happy married to me!

A Big Thank You!

Thanks to everyone who donated to our 5th annual Radiothon for MacMaster Children's Hospital.  We raised over $307,000 - that's a new record!  I was behind the scenes producing the shows from here at the radio station and we heard so many amazing stories.  We will be doing it again next year so stay tuned!

Trade Deadline Day

Today is NHL trade deadline day.

As a Leaf fan today is also know as Passover.  Mats wants to stay and that is his right and with so many players with no-trade clauses in their contracts the Leafs have limited options.  At this point I am beginning to wonder if I am young enough to realistically see another Stanley Cup win for T.O.

Hey - who knows, this may actually cause me to take better care of myself.

Pass the multivitamins, it's time for me to head off to the gym.

Hot breakfast

I love oatmeal.

Several mornings a week I whip up a steaming hot bowl with fresh bananas, chopped walnuts and a whole bunch of cinnamon.  Note to self - rearrange spice rack to move cayenne pepper as far as possible away from cinnamon.  Man that was a wake up for my mouth this morning!

Have a good one.

...and the winner isn't...

I am a big movie fan and I do enjoy the Oscars ... but let's face it there is a LOT of filler during any awards show.  That's why I will be recording the show and I'll wait and watch just the good stuff later.  The other problem is that like most years I haven't seen all the movies nominated.  Sometimes they get it wrong with the voting ... remember when Ordinary People beat Raging Bull?  Some would even say Rocky shouldn't have beaten All the Presidents Men and Taxi Driver AND Network (boy 1976 was a good year for movies).  Whether you agree or disagree ... here is an interesting article on the subject of movies and actors that were robbed at the Oscars: http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/movies/2008/02/22/2008-02-22_movies_and_actors_who_were_robbed_of_osc.html?print=1&page=all

I am NOT a Coal Miner's Daughter...

Have you ever had a conversation with someone where you find out they haven't seen one of your favorite movies?  If you are like me, you feel like you should grab the person, head to the video store and sit them down to watch it right away.  Well, I am guilty of not seeing a lot of great films ... but hey, it gives me something to look forward to.  On the weekend I saw a film I always wanted to see but just never got around to renting.  As a country music lover, you would have thought that naturally I had seen Coal Miner's Daughter.  Nope.  It was released in 1980 with wonderful performances by Sissy Spacek as Loretta Lynn, Tommy Lee Jones as her husband "Mooney" and a surprise to me Beverly D'Angelo as Patsy Cline.  Both Spacek and D'Angelo did their own singing in the movie and it is wonderful.  Interesting to note that the year this movie came out Loretta Lynn won Female Country Artist of the Year at the CMA's.  It's a great movie and if you also missed it ... add it to your list.
